چکیده

1 I n t r o d u c t i o n One of the fundamental problems in real-t ime research is to devise accurate yet tractable mathemat ica l models for real-t ime tasks. Liu & Layland introduced the basic periodic model in 1973 [13]. Since then, there have been many variations of it. Mok relaxed it with the sporadic model [14]. Leung ~ Whitehead considered the periodic model with start ing t ime [12]. Mok &= Chen later considered the variation of execution t ime and proposed a mul t i f rame model [15]. Baruah et. al. further introduced generalized mult i f rame model [1]. The scheduling of different models has also been extensively analyzed in other li teratures [4, 6, 10, 11, 17, 18]. In this paper, we take a look at the modeling itself and try to organize different models and their feasibility difficulties into a uniformed structure. Some of the work in above li terature are recited or reproduced to make this chapter a selfcontained unit. There is yet another type of models in which the parameters of each task depend on how they are scheduled. Harbour et. al. introduced a two-level(tasksubtask) model [9] where the real-time requirement of a subtask depends on how the previous subtask is scheduled; Han at. al. introduced the distance constrained real-t ime task where the finishing t imes of consecutive jobs must not be separated larger than a min imum t ime [8]. In this work we will concentrate on independent task models where the parameters of a task does not depend on how it is scheduled.

Safety Verification of Real Time Systems Serving Periodic Devices

In real-time systems response to a request from a controlled object must be correct and timely. Any late response to a request from such a device might lead to a catastrophy. The possibility of a task overrun, i.e., missing the deadline for completing a requested task, must be checked and removed during the design of such systems. Safe design of real-time systems running periodic tasks under th...

Modeling of a Probabilistic Re-Entrant Line Bounded by Limited Operation Utilization Time

This paper presents an analytical model based on mean value analysis (MVA) technique for a probabilistic re-entrant line. The objective is to develop a solution method to determine the total cycle time of a Reflow Screening (RS) operation in a semiconductor assembly plant. The uniqueness of this operation is that it has to be borrowed from another department in order to perform the production s...

An Efficient Genetic Algorithm for Task Scheduling on Heterogeneous Computing Systems Based on TRIZ

An efficient assignment and scheduling of tasks is one of the key elements in effective utilization of heterogeneous multiprocessor systems. The task scheduling problem has been proven to be NP-hard is the reason why we used meta-heuristic methods for finding a suboptimal schedule. In this paper we proposed a new approach using TRIZ (specially 40 inventive principles). The basic idea of thi...

Scaling, Modeling and Traffic Control of a Real Railway Network using Max-plus Algebra and Model Predictive Control

Delay time recovery can increase the efficiency of the railway network and increase the attractiveness of railway transport against other transportation systems. This article presents a new dynamical model of railway system. The proposed model is a discrete event systems that is defined based on the deviation of travel time and deviation of stop time of trains. Due to the existence of multiple ...

Markovian Delay Prediction-Based Control of Networked Systems

A new Markov-based method for real time prediction of network transmission time delays is introduced. The method considers a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) neural model for the transmission network, where the number of neurons in the input layer is minimized so that the required calculations are reduced and the method can be implemented in the real-time. For this purpose, the Markov process order...
